About: La Ventana has a rich history that dates back to the 1870s. However, it faced significant challenges due to frequent Indian raids which delayed its settlement. It wasn't until 1914 that the area was finally established, marking the beginning of a new chapter in its story.

La Ventana saw its first family, the Padilla family, resettle in the area in 1914 after it had been deserted. By the mid-1920s to early 1930s, the town began to thrive as a coal mining hub, attracting more residents and transforming its landscape. The Padilla family's arrival marked the beginning of a new chapter for La Ventana paving the way for a bustling community centered around coal mining.

In its prime, La Ventana was a bustling hub with the El N Hotel featuring sixteen charming rooms. The town boasted general stores, a variety of restaurants, a stage line, a post office, and a school, all contributing to a vibrant community. With a population of 150, La Ventana was a lively place full of activity and connection. This rich history reflects the town's character and the spirit of its residents.
